First United Methodist Church of Sturgis will begin observing Holy Week with a special United Service on Palm Sunday, March 29. Worship will be in the sanctuary at 11:00 am. Followed by sub sandwiches in the Fellowship Hall. Later, the Maundy Thursday service, including communion will be in the Chapel, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2.
First UMC-Sturgis has the rich tradition of hosting the community’s Good Friday service. The Sturgis Ministerial Association welcomes everyone to the 12:15 p.m. remembrance of Christ’s crucifixion. Good Friday is Friday, April 3.
Easter Sunday celebrations will include two services: contemporary at 8:30a.m., featuring the church’s praise band, Reconciled; and traditional at 11:00a.m., featuring the Chancel Choir. The Reverend Jeanne Koughn’s message, “Easter Hope” will be heard at both services. Additionally, the church’s mission trip team will be serving breakfast 8:45 —11:00 am Easter morning, to begin raising money for their trip. There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 9:45 am. Christian Education (Intentional Faith Development) is offered for all ages at 9:45, as well.
Everyone is invited to all activities, and this is a great opportunity to include friends and family in your Christian worship and celebration. Childcare is available. Through donations, WBET continues to broadcast each Sunday’s 11:00 a.m. service on its 1230 AM station.
