Man Injured After Riding Bike Into Semi

(FABIUS TOWNSHIP) – A Three Rivers man was injured in an incident on the west side of the city.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department says just after 1 PM Wednesday, 61 year old Lawrence Heard was riding his bicycle across U.S. 131 in the construction zone in front of the Meijer Gas Station. Witnesses say Heard rode into the side of a semi that was traveling south
on U.S. 131.

Heard was transported to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo by Three Rivers Ambulance with unknown injuries. The driver of the semi, 63 year old Edward Corneail of Oxford, Michigan, was not injured.

Assisting deputies were the Fabius Park Township Fire Department and the Three Rivers Police Department. The incident remains under investigation.
