(UNDATED) – Power restoration for some Consumers Energy customers may not be completed until Saturday.

According to the Consumers' website, there are 1,992 Branch County residents who are still without power. In addition, there were 531 customers in northeastern St. Joseph County who don't have service.

Crews have been working since Wednesday afternoon to get the power restored, in the wake of a storm front that moved through the area, bringing heavy rains, lightning and winds between 55 and 65 miles per hour. The storms brought down power lines along with limbs and trees.

The National Weather Service says the severe storms were part of the remnants of Tropical Storm Christobal.
