(UNDATED) – There were eight new cases of COVID-19 reported in Southern Michigan Friday afternoon.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says 3 new cases were detected in St. Joseph County, which makes 163 people who have tested positive. There have also been 3 deaths.

In Branch County, there were 3 new cases of coronavirus. That makes 148 people who have the virus and 2 people who have died from it. There were no new cases of coronavirus in Hillsdale County. 171 people have tested positive for it and there have been 25 deaths.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says no new cases were reported at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. To date, there are 793 inmates and 34 staff members with the coronavirus. There have been 23 inmate deaths at the facility.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says 2 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Cass County. 101 residents have the virus and there have been 4 people who have died.

Around Michigan, 125 new coronavirus cases were reported, making 59,621 people who have tested positive. There were also 8 more deaths, which means 5,745 individuals who have died from COVID-19.
