(COLDWATER) – No injuries were reported in a Sunday morning house fire in Coldwater.

In a media release, Fire Marshall Steve Trall says the Coldwater Fire Department was called to 102 South Jefferson Street at 4:15 AM. Fire was seen coming out of a first story window. Fawaz Aboaly told firefighters that he and his family got out through a window on the second story of the house.

Off duty firefighters came to the scene and helped battle the blaze, which was put out in ten minutes. Fire crews remained on scene until 5:36 AM.

Trall says the initial investigation revealed the fire was caused by the improper use of an electrical cord. Damage estimates stand at $15,000 with the heaviest damage done in the family room on the first floor.

The Coldwater Police Department and Life Care Ambulance assisted at the scene.
