(CENTREVILLE) – A grant has been given to help with a trail project in St. Joseph County.

During last week's meeting of the River Country Recreational Authority, the Board approved a matching grant for over $300,000 that will go towards the Millard/Broadway Trail to Meyer Broadway Park in Three Rivers.

These funds have been held by the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation and include collaboration between that organization along with the River Country Recreational Authority, the City of Three Rivers, Fabius Township and St. Joseph County.

The matching funds were a mixture of grant dollars and community raised funds.

The trail, which is just under two miles long, will go from the Three Rivers HealthTrac parking lot to Millard Street. It will then cross U.S. 131 and go south to Broadway Street. It then goes west on the north side of Broadway Street to Meyer Broadway Park.

Work is scheduled to begin on the trail in City of Three Rivers' fiscal year 2021 budget, which begins July 1.
