Southern Michigan Has 16 New COVID-19 Cases

(UNDATED) – Health officials say 16 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Southern Michigan Thursday afternoon.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says there were 7 new cases in St. Joseph County. That makes 246 people who have tested positive and there have been 3 deaths in the county.

In Branch County, there were no new cases of COVID-19. 240 residents have the virus and there have been 2 deaths. There were 4 new cases of coronavirus in Hillsdale County, which makes 181 people who have tested positive and 25 people who have died.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says there were no new cases of coronavirus at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. That makes 39 staff members and 793 inmates who have tested positive. There have also been 23 inmate deaths.

In Cass County, there were 5 new cases of COVID-19. There are now 118 people who have been diagnosed with the virus, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. There have been 4 deaths in the county as well.

Across Michigan, 353 new coronavirus cases were reported, making 62,306 people who have tested positive. There were 19 more deaths reported, which means 5,887 individuals have died from COVID-19.
