Angola Football Team Being Quarantined
By: Mike Stiles - Wednesday, August 26, 2020

(ANGOLA) – The Angola High School football team has been officially quarantined.

MSD of Steuben County Superintendent Brent Wilson sent out a letter Wednesday saying he was notified Tuesday that a player on the DeKalb football team tested positive for COVID-19. Angola played DeKalb last Friday night, and Wilson says through contact tracing, it has been determined that most of the Angola team were in direct contact with the affected player.

Out of an abundance of caution, Wilson says the Hornet varsity football team, which consists of 47 student-athletes who played in last week's game, will be quarantined for 14 days. Parents of those students have been asked to closely monitor their children for symptoms. The students will be receiving virtual instruction so they can keep up with their studies.

With the quarantine in effect, that means their Hornets' game this Friday against Leo has been canceled. Angola did not have a Week 3 game, after Orchard Lake St. Mary's season was postponed to the Spring of 2021 by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
