(TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP) – A Coldwater woman is dead following a two vehicle crash Sunday in Calhoun County.

Michigan State Police say a semi was driving south on I-69 near M-60, and a sedan was traveling north in the southbound lanes. Troopers believe the driver of the sedan may have been despondent and intentionally struck the semi head on.

When they collided, both vehicles burst into flames and burned extensively.

The driver of the sedan, identified as 44 year old Shannon Lee Risner of Coldwater, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi driver, Anthony Washington of DeKalb, Illinois, was not injured.

The incident is still under investigation. Assisting troopers were the Branch County Sheriff's Department, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department and the Tekonsha Fire Department.
