(CENTREVILLE) – Classes for the 2020 Fall Semester begin today for Glen Oaks Community College.

With the campus closed down to students and staff for the last five months, it's allowed Glen Oaks to get several projects done. The school received a $1.5 million loan from the Michigan Department of Economic Development in June of 2018, and Glen Oaks President Dr. David Devier shared during a recent visit to the WBET Morning Show that the money was used to re-do the main parking lot and two others. ...... {LISTEN}.

Glen Oaks also did a lot of work on their HVAC systems and did a timber harvest of over 200 trees.

Glen Oaks has not had students on campus for classes since March. Devier says on campus learning is one of the options for students this Fall. ...... {LISTEN}.

Devier says there are more students signed up for on line learning this semester than in the past, and there are more hybrid classes being offered as well.

Devier says safety is still a top priority for Glen Oaks. Employees must fill out a form every day, stating how they feel and if they have been in contact with anyone who may have COVID-19.
