(ONTWA TOWNSHIP) – Two people have been arrested on drug and weapon charges.
The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant Friday in the 70,000 block of Irving Drive in Ontwa Township. Detectives detained two individuals and began to search the residence.
During the search officers located an improvised explosive device. They stopped to wait for the bomb squad and advised neighboring households of what they found and allowed them to vacate the area.
After the house was secure, the search continued, and officers found a large amount of meth, meth paraphernalia and a firearm.
A 44 year old man was arrested for possession of meth, possession of meth with intent to deliver, delivery of meth, possession of a dangerous weapon and felony firearm. A 33 year old woman was arrested for possession of meth.
Both are being held in the Cass County Jail, pending their arraignment in District Court.
Assisting with the search were the Edwardsburg Police Department, the Cass County Sheriff's Office and the Berrien County Bomb Squad.
