By: Mike Stiles - Saturday, January 2, 2021

(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) – A New Year's Eve fire destroyed a Lockport Township house.

Three Rivers Fire Department Deputy Chief Paul Schoon says they were called to the 56,000 block of Brave Drive in the Tamarac Subdivision and the home of Joel and Kathy Moore at 1:22 PM on December 31. They found a house fully engulfed in flames.

Schoon says it took about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. Firefighters were also working on putting out additional hotspots. The initial investigation shows that the fire started in the garage area of the house. No damage estimates have been released.

The Moore's and their three children were able to get out of the house safely.

The St. Joseph County United Way has announced that they will use money from their Catastrophic Fund to help out the Moore family. If you would like to make a contribution, you can visit the United Way's Facebook page to find the link for Pay Pal.
