(MILTON TOWNSHIP) – A man was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says just before 7 PM Friday, Samuel Gonzalez of Niles was on a non motorized scooter on U.S. 12 near the off ramps of M-60 in Milton Township. Gonzalez was struck by a passing pick up, driven by Richard Krassow of Niles. Krassow stopped and immediately called 911.

Gonzalez was taken to Niles Lakeland Hospital and later transferred to South Bend Memorial Hospital where he is stable condition.

The Pokagon Tribal Police, Niles Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
