Veteran Trooper Marks 30 Years With ISP

(BRISTOL) – A LaGrange County native marked a milestone anniversary at his job.

Lieutenant Michael Young, District Commander of the Indiana Toll Road, recently marked 30 years as an Indiana State Police trooper. He received his 30 year pin to display on his uniform.

Young graduated with the Class of 1986 from Prairie Heights High School. He went on to attend Manchester College. Following college, Young became a member of the Indiana State Police 48th Recruit Class, graduating in December 1990.

Young was then assigned to the Toll Road Post where he was assigned to Zone 1, patrolling the Toll Road in Porter and Lake Counties. He also spent time on the Interdiction Team; and served as a Field Training Officer; Drug Recognition Expert; Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor; and he is Motor Carrier Safety Assistant Program certified.

Young was also a member of the Emergency Response Team from 1996 through 2008.

Young was promoted to Lieutenant in 2013.
