(CENTREVILLE) – A Colon man has been arrested and arraigned in the strangulation death of his girlfriend.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his department arrested 35 year old Michael Lafler on a charge of open murder. He was arraigned on October 22 and bond is set at $1 million.

Lafler is accused of strangling his girlfriend, 33 year old Chelsea Wallen, in her home on October 15.

The case is still under investigation.

St. Joseph County District Court Officials say Lafler will have a pre-trial conference on November 2 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 9.
