(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – Two motorcyclists were killed when their bikes were struck by an automobile.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to the intersection of U.S. 12 and Baldwin Prairie Road in Porter Township just after 4:30 AM Monday. Investigators say that two motorcycles, operated by 20 year old Tanner Hull and 21 year old William Kunz, both of White Pigeon were on U.S. 12 and preparing to make a left turn onto Baldwin Prairie Road. They were struck from behind by a car, driven by 20 year old Tristan Thorpe, also of White Pigeon.

Both Hull and Kunz were pronounced dead at the scene. They were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Thorpe was wearing a seatbelt and his airbag did deploy in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Behnke is asking anyone who came through the intersection prior to first responders arriving, to please call the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 269-445-2481.
