(STURGIS) – The initial response seems to be in favor of a site sinking fund for Sturgis Public Schools.

During Monday's meeting, the Sturgis Board of Education received an update from Superintendent Art Ebert on his capital needs tour. Ebert has been speaking to civic organizations, business leaders, teachers and staff and community members about the needs of the school district and asking them questions on what they see as needs for the schools and how funds should be raised to take care of those issues.

A feedback sheet was given during the sessions with 175 people filling them out. One of the questions was should the District pursue a site sinking fund. The majority of responders said yes.

Ebert shares more from the survey. ...... {LISTEN}.

Another question was how long should the sinking fund millage be for. ...... {LISTEN}.

Ebert says they will take this information and work on a ten year capital improvement plan. Once it is finished, Ebert will take it back to the same individuals and groups and show them what the school district will do and how it will be funded.
