Cyber Bullying Discussed During Seminar

(CENTREVILLE) – Cyber Bullying was one of many topics discussed during a Tuesday seminar.

Parenting In A Digital Age was put on by Centreville Public Schools, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and the St. Joseph County United Way.

Hackenson says bullying has changed with the advent of social media. In years past, it was a one on one situation. Now, if a cyber bully posts something online, everyone can see it, and the bully many times doesn’t see the damage they’re doing.

What should be done if a child is being cyber bullied? Hackenson offers some suggestions. ...... {LISTEN}.

Hackenson says if your child is being cyber bullied, you need to encourage and support them. He says there are monitoring programs you can get that can help you keep up with what your child is seeing on social media sites and keep you aware of any kind of threats.
