Mendon Voters Approve School Bond, White Pigeon Voters Say No

(UNDATED) – Voters in the Mendon School District approved a bond proposal, while voters in White Pigeon turned their proposal down.

Mendon voters said yes to a bond proposal with 298 Yes votes to 182 No votes. The proposal was asking to borrow a sum not to exceed $20,050,000 and then issue general obligation unlimited tax bonds.

The money would be used for erecting, furnishing and equipping a new bus maintenance facility and additions to school buildings; remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, along with equipping and re-equipping school buildings and athletic faculties; acquiring and installing instructional technology; equipping, preparing, developing, and improving athletic fields and facilities, sidewalks, parking areas, driveways, and sites; and purchasing school buses

White Pigeon Schools was asking to borrow a sum not to exceed $1,930,000 and issue general obligation unlimited bonds. That was defeated with 402 No votes to 359 Yes votes.

If approved the money would have been used for partially remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, along with equipping and re-equipping school buildings; acquiring and installing instructional technology and instructional technology equipment for school buildings; purchasing school buses; and preparing, developing, equipping, and improving the stadium site.
