(BATTLE CREEK) - The No. 1 Mendon softball team scored first, added to their run total, got great pitching and defense and stood off a late rally to beat Petersburg Summerfield 8-4 in their Division 4 Quarterfinal game at Citi Field in Bailey Park. Rowan Allen went the distance in the pitching circle, striking out 14 batters with the last one coming to end the game. Allen also had a two run double for Mendon. Sabrina Monroy and Jadyn Samson each drove in a run as Mendon improves to 30-3 and will take on No. 2 Hillman in a Friday semifinal game at Michigan State University. Hillman beat Norway 5-2 in their quarterfinal game.
