(EMMA) - Recent Westview graduate Kaden Grau is going to play basketball in the fall for Hope College. Grau says he loves Hope Coach Greg Mitchell and the rest of the staff. Grau picked Hope over Trine, Taylor and Saint Francis. He will study marketing at Hope, and is also interested in graphic design. As a freshman Grau was point guard for his father at Bluffton. He then transferred to Westview and helped lead the Warriors to the Class 2A State Title game in March, where they lost to Parke Heritage 57-56. He finishes his prep career with 1,303 points. Last season, the 6-foot-4 Grau averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and one steal per game. He shot 52.4% from the field, including 50.7% from three-point range, and made nearly 89% of his free throws. Grau was named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Senior Small School All-State team. He also received the Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award at the 2A State Championship game. Hope has a great tradition in the world of NCAA Division III basketball. They have played in the NCAA Division III Tournament four of the last five years. The Flying Dutchmen went 18-10 last season, and was second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association at 11-3 by a game over Olivet. Hope won the MIAA Tournament at Olivet to earn the automatic NCAA Tournament bid, defeating Trine in the championship game 72-65.
