(LANSING) - A Three Rivers woman is among five non-citizens who allegedly voted in Michigan's November 2024 General Election.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced charges Thursday against the five, and against one U.S. citizen who allegedly registered their non-citizen spouse to vote.
Nessel has charged 26-year-old Alondra Harker of Three Rivers with one count of Election Fraud-Fraudulent Registration, which is a 90-day misdemeanor.
Harker is a limited term alien resident, though not an American citizen and therefore ineligible to vote in any state and federal elections. It is alleged Harker registered and voted in-person in the 2024 general election in Three Rivers.
Harker was arraigned on July 7th and is scheduled to have a pre-trial conference in St. Joseph County District Court on September 10th.
Nessel says in her office, they've always taken election crimes seriously, and prosecute attacks on Michigan's voting systems to the fullest extent of the law. She says they are upholding election integrity by investigating all claims of non-citizen voters, as rare as they are, and holding bad actors accountable when they refuse to abide by the laws that keep Michigan's elections safe and secure.
