(LIGONIER) - A driver was killed in a two vehicle crash.
At 9:29 AM Monday the Noble County Sheriff's Office was called to a crash on U.S. 33, just south of the State Road 5 intersection. When deputies arrived they found an SUV and a semi tractor-trailer blocking both lanes of U.S. 33.
The investigation determined that 74-year-old Leonard Jesse of Fort Wayne was driving north on U.S. 33 in his SUV when for no apparent reason, he went left of center and struck a southbound semi. The tractor-trailer was unable to avoid the collision.
Jesse was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver, 21-year-old Tyler Janssen of Coopersville, Michigan, was not injured.
Assisting deputies at the scene were the Ligonier Police and Fire Departments and Noble County EMS.
