(JACKSON) - Hillsdale County Sheriff Scott Hodshire plead non guilty to felony charges of obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.
The Michigan Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case.
Jackson County District Court officials say Hodshire was arraigned via Zoom Wednesday morning. The 59-year-old Hodshire is accused of leaking details of an investigation to a suspect's family between February and March of this year.
Court documents say the investigation was conducted by the Michigan State Police. They determined that the Williams County Ohio Sheriff's Office had contacted Hodshire in February 2026 to ask for assistance with an active investigation along with an upcoming search warrant. The investigation determined that instead of coordinating the raid, phone records reveal that Hodshire called the suspect and the suspect's parents, disclosing exactly what items police were looking for, including a truck, trailer, and tractor.
Hodshire's next court date is set for September 30. He remains free after posting a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
Each charge carries up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
