(HUDSON) – An Angola man was killed in a snowmobile accident over the weekend in Steuben County.

The Indiana Conservation Department says they were contacted around 5 PM Sunday by the Steuben County Sheriff's Office to help search for 34 year old Adam Fifield of Angola. Fifield had been missing for an hour and a half, after leaving a home in the 6100 block of South 400 West in Hudson on a snowmobile, and did not arrive at a predetermined destination.

Officers searched the area where Fifield had last been seen and the route he was traveling but couldn't find him.

Around 10:45 PM, officers were contacted by family members who had located Fifield in a creek, near the 1900 block of West 500 South. Lifesaving measures were attempted but Fifield was pronounced dead at the scene.

Also assisting with the search and assisting at the scene were the Hamilton Police Department, Indiana State Police, the Pleasant Lake Fire Department, the Steuben County EMA and the Steuben County Coroner's Office.
