(THREE RIVERS) – The City of Three Rivers is going to be doing improvements to the east parking lot elevated walkway in 2023.

Future maintenance of that walkway may be the responsibility of the Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority.

During a recent meeting of the DDA board, talks were held on the project and who would be handling any future maintenance and upkeep. Three Rivers City Manager Joe Bippus shared with the DDA Board that while the City will pay for the work, he is asking the DDA to start saving money for any repairs in the future.

During their September 6 meeting, the Three Rivers City Commission approved a professional services proposal from Fishbeck Design for $29,100. The money came from the East Parking Lot Fund and would be used to complete plans for the project and for contract bidding.

Bippus told the City Commission and the DDA Board that the project would include sandblasting and repainting the lower support beams; repairing and installing new railing support posts; repainting the railings and the fence and sealing cracks in the cement. The estimated cost of the project is $115,000.

The structure was built in 2007.

More talks will be held between the DDA and the City of Three Rivers in the coming months.
