(UNDATED) – A Michigan man was arrested in Indiana following a two state police chase.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Fremont Road and the Michigan state line around 9:30 AM Saturday, to assist the Branch County Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle pursuit that was heading south. Deputies were informed by Branch County Central Dispatch that the vehicle was a dark colored Pontiac Montana with no license plate, and it had been partially disabled by stop sticks.

Steuben County deputies put down more stop sticks in the area of County Road 700 North and Fremont Road, which were struck by the suspect vehicle, deflating a third tire. The pursuit continued south, into and through Fremont on State Road 827.

The chase kept going south and the suspect turned west onto County Road 200 North and eventually stopped in the 2400 block of North County Road 200 West. The driver then ran away from the scene.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit was brought in and eventually found 53 year old Kevin Elliott of Allen, Michigan. He sustained a bite from K-9 officer Klara to the left buttock and was treated at Cameron Hospital.

A small amount of suspected methamphetamine was allegedly found in Elliott’s possession.

Elliott was booked into the Steuben County Jail on charges of possession of meth; resisting law enforcement; and resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle.

The matter remains under investigation, with additional charges being sought by the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.

Also assisting with the chase were the Fremont and Angola Police Departments.
