(LAGRANGE) – A Sturgis man was one of two people injured in an Northeast Indiana crash.

Chief Deputy Juan Arroyo of the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the intersection of U.S. 20 and County Road 200 East at 7:49 AM Monday. Investigators determined that 45 year old Clint Renkenberger of Kendallville was driving his Dodge Ram pick up west on U.S. 20. Witnesses say he was driving at an unsafe speed and following too close to a vehicle slowing down to turn left onto County Road 200 East.

Witnesses say Renkenberger went off the north side of the roadway to avoid the vehicle in front of him, but instead struck a Ford pick up sitting on the north side of the road at County Road 200 East. The Ford flipped over from the impact of the crash.

The driver of the Ford, 38 year old Derek Damon of Sturgis, and his passenger, 32 year old Dakotah Baldridge of LaGrange, were taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital after complaining of pain on the left side of their bodies.

Renkenberger was not injured.

All three men were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
