Vicksburg Man Dies After Being Struck By Train

(VICKSBURG) – A man is dead after being struck by a train.

Vicksburg Police Chief Scott Sanderson says just after 11 AM Tuesday, his department was called to 207 North Richardson Street at the railroad crossing on a report of a man in a wheelchair that had been struck by a passing train. Officers discovered an 82 year old Vicksburg man had been struck and killed while operating his wheelchair across the railroad tracks.

The railroad crossing warning bells, lights and crossing arms were operational and functioning properly at the time.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department was called in to reconstruct the accident.
