Unemployment Goes Up Slightly In Michigan During March

(LANSING) – Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went up slightly from February to March.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says data shows the unemployment rate rose from 5.4% in February to 5.5% in March. Statewide employment receded by 3,000, while total unemployment rose by 5,000 during March.
Slight increases in employment were seen in the categories of Other Services (+0.7%) and Government (+0.3%). Decreases were found in Manufacturing (-0.7%), and Professional and Business Services (-0.6%).
Michigan’s March unemployment rate was higher than the National rate, which was 4.2%, up from 4.1% in February.
