(CLIMAX) - Several people attended Monday's Climax-Scotts Board of Education meeting speaking for and against Tyler Langs.
According to WWMT, there was a full meeting room Monday night as community members spoke in favor of and also voiced concerns about Langs, who is the Climax-Scotts Dean Of Students, Athletic Director and varsity football coach. The comments were made due to an ongoing District investigation into alleged misconduct.
School officials did say that Langs has been on paid administrative leave since mid-October and has been under investigation after complaints were registered related to his alleged conduct as a coach. The exact nature of the complaints has not been released by the District.
Several of the people who spoke, including parents, former athletes and students expressed concerns about Langs, which included some alleged intimidating language, public humiliation of players and demands that were put on athletes. A parent of a student shared a letter written by his son that talked about injury-related pressure within the football program.
Many others spoke in defense of Langs, saying he is supportive of students.
According to Climax-Scotts Superintendent Doug Newton, the District has finished their investigation and are with their legal team what should be done next.
Langs was at the meeting, and denies the allegations of misconduct. He says he and his family want a decision that will be the best for the students and the school district.
Langs graduated from Climax-Scotts in 2006. He served as the Centreville football coach and Athletic Director from 2017 until 2020. He was then hired as the Plainwell football coach but left after one year to accept a position at Climax-Scotts.
