(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) - A camper fire claimed the life of a person.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence says his office along with fire personnel were dispatched to a camper fire in the 57,000 block of Mitchell Road in Lockport Township early Saturday morning.
When they arrived, first responders were met with a fully involved fire, which continued to burn and additional crews had to be called to the scene. Spence says they received information that a woman was inside the camper.
Despite their best efforts, the women succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting were the Three Rivers Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
