(CENTREVILLE) - Sentencing for a Sturgis woman in connection with the death of her two year old daughter is set for next month.

St. Joseph County Circuit Court officials say that 21 year old Paige Bohne is scheduled to be sentenced December 19 at 1 PM. In August, Bohne plead no contest to charges of first degree child abuse and assault with intent to do bodily harm. By making that plea, charges of murder and conspiracy to commit child abuse were dropped.

On November 7, 2024 at 12:47 AM, the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office along with medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on West U.S. 12 for an unresponsive child. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and Bohne was eventually taken into custody on a charge of involuntary manslaughter which was later amended to open murder.

Court officials say that a criminal motion hearing is scheduled for November 24 at 9:45 AM. No information has been shared on what the hearing is about.
