(LANSING) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her eighth and final State of the State Address Wednesday night.

Whitmer shared that Michigan has a lot to be proud of. She says over the last seven years she, her administration and lawmakers have delivered on kitchen table issues and together they are building a Michigan for all. Whitmer says wages and GDP are up. Crime and overdose deaths are down. Pre-K school meals and community colleges are free. Taxes on retirement, tips overtime and Social Security are all gone. She says they have fixed more roads, built more homes and replaced more lead pipes than ever before.

Whitmer also shared that more people moved to Michigan from other states than moved out for the first time since the early 1990's.

Whitmer says as everyone reels from national uncertainty, Michigan must stay focused on growing the State's economy. She wants Michigan to stay competitive against area neighbors like Indiana and Ohio and equip ourselves with the tools needed to create good paying jobs and make it easier to develop and grow in Michigan.
