(COLDWATER) - The Coldwater Department of Public Safety Police Division is investigating the death of a teenager who suffered a gunshot wound.
Director of Public Safety Joseph Scheid says the 17 year old boy's mother returned home Thursday morning and called 911 after finding her son unresponsive. The Coldwater Police and Fire Departments along with Life Care Ambulance responded to the scene.
Scheid says the teen was a student at Coldwater High School. Authorities notified Coldwater Community Schools of the incident. The school had grief counsellors available for students and staff at Coldwater High School and Legg Middle School.
An autopsy has been scheduled for May 1, and the case remains under investigation. If anyone has information, they are asked to contact Sergeant Bryan Regan or Detective Sergeant Sarah Gunnerman by calling 517-278-4525.
