Sturgis girls second tenth at track Regional
(STURGIS) - The Sturgis girls track team finished second at the Division 2 Regional meet that the Trojans hosted. Moving on to the State Meet are Sydney Bir, who won a Regional Championship in the 400 meters and set a new school record in the event in a time of 57.84. Berkley Holtz was Regional Champion in the 1600 meters and also finished fourth in the 3200 meters, and will run in both events at the State Meet. Vivian Massey was Regional Champion in the shot put adaptive. Also qualifying for the State Finals are Angela Cary, who was second in the high jump and Madelyn Oswald who finished third in the pole vault, and Tessa Hatt who came in fourth in the 800 meters. Kenzie Eicher will go to State after finishing fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, as will Juliet Mendoza Rangel who came in sixth in the 300 meter hurdles. The 400 meter relay team of Addison Eicher, Kinder Smith, Madelyn Oswald and Angela Cary finished second and will advance to the State Finals. The 800 meter relay team of Eicher, Smith Cary and Bir finished third and go to the State Finals. The 1600 meter relay team of Smith, Bir, Holtz and Olivia Green came in second and move on to the State Finals.
Sturgis boys tenth at track Regional, several going to State
(STURGIS) - The host Sturgis boys track team tied for tenth place with Plainwell at their Division 2 Regional meet. For Sturgis Gift Wickey was Regional Champion in the shot put adaptive and will advance to the State Finals. He as also second in the 100 meter wheelchair adaptive and qualifies for State. Caleb Hohn was second in the 200 meters and moves on to the State Finals. So does the 400 meter relay team of Drake Fisher, Hohn, Beckett Lamb and Lukis Bir who finished sixth. The 1600 meter relay team of Micaiah Arreola, Hohn, Darren Speelman and Benjamin Morales finished sixth and advance to the State Meet.
