(STURGIS) - Sturgis Public Schools has an emergency operations plan.
The plan was presented to the Sturgis Schools Board of Education during their November 18 meeting. Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says a company the District worked with in the past helped create the plan. They worked with Sturgis Safety Officer Sam Watson to create this almost 400 page document. This is the same information that the staff members are trained on, and is now written down. Ebert says the plan explains what to do in many different circumstances. (LISTEN ABOVE).
In addition, Ebert says the plan also goes into detail what to do after an emergency event has happened to keep students and staff safe.
Some parts of the plan can not be shared with the public according to Ebert, due to safety protocols.
The Board of Education unanimously approved the plan.
