(STURGIS) - Another member of the Sturgis City Commission has called for the resignation of Mayor Frank Perez.

During Wednesday's meeting City Commissioner Justin Wickey shared a message he received in a phone call from former Second Precinct Commissioner Chuck Huber. Wickey says Huber says that Frank Perez needs to step down. Huber says Perez is a figure head, elected by the people and it's not his job to run the City. Huber says Perez shouldn't put his nose where it doesn't belong. Huber says the citizens of Sturgis need to know they have the power, not Perez.

Wickey then shared a response he was asked to give by the Sturgis Journal to the letter Commissioner Aaron Miller issued last week. Wickey, like Huber, says Perez needs to resign.

Wickey says the right thing for Mayor Perez to do is resign. If he doesn't, then Wickey implores the residents of the Fourth Precinct to vote him out. Wickey says Perez has done enough damage to the City and has embarrassed the Commission and also made it a difficult environment for City staff to work under. Wickey says if Perez remains, finding a quality long-term City Manager could be near impossible as they do their homework before accepting a job. (LISTEN ABOVE)

Wickey says that the investigation shows that the Commission has to operate in a set of parameters, and that Perez chooses when and if he will stay within those parameters.

Wickey says Perez has caused great harm to the City, and because of his actions and triggering an expensive investigation, Perez has single-handedly caused the City to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars.
