(STURGIS) - The Sturgis Board of Education received updated bond scope and sequence options during their meeting this week.

Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert shared again with the Board of Education that results from the community survey that was taken following the failed bond proposal in May showed that the public is in support of a new community pool. Ebert says the Community Pool was a supported item. On the survey, building a new pool was supported more than remodeling the old facility into the new pool.

Ebert also reminded the Board that the survey showed the community is not in favor of having artificial turf installed at the football field, the baseball diamond and the softball diamond. They would support fixing the drainage issues of those three locations along with the re-seeding and re-crowning of the football field.

The survey also showed the community was not in favor of moving the football press box to the opposite side of the field and they were also not in favor of new dugouts for the baseball and softball fields.

Ebert says if and when the Board of Education wants to bring a bond proposal to the citizens, they will have options to consider.

Ebert says one option for the Board would be to offer a proposal with everything together. A second option would be a proposal with two questions: academics along with a reduced scope of athletics and support sites with a second question about the pool by itself. A third option would put all the academics and support site stuff together and then put the athletics and pool in a different question. (LISTEN ABOVE).

The Board will discuss the information more before making any decisions on how to move forward.
