(COLDWATER) - The Coldwater City Council is reminding residents that overnight street parking is not allowed anywhere in the city.

City Manager Keith Baker says vehicles may not be parked on city streets between 2 AM and 6 AM. The rule helps city crews clear leaves and snow and keep streets safe during seasonal maintenance. Cars left on the street during those hours can be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense.

The City is also enforcing parking rules on private property. Baker says parking vehicles on grass in front yards violates the city's property maintenance code and hurts neighborhood appearance and property values. Violators will be ticketed and required to move vehicles to a driveway or a rear or side yard.

Residents who need overnight parking are encouraged to use downtown public parking lots, where overnight parking is allowed in designated areas to allow for snow removal and maintenance.

City officials say the reminder is meant to help residents avoid fines as winter conditions continue.
