(THREE RIVERS) - An organization will once again be offering free rides on New Year's Eve.
For the18th consecutive year, the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority will be providing free rides home, with all pick ups and drop off being in St. Joseph County only.
CTA Director Marci Goodman says the free rides will be available from Wednesday at 7 PM until 2 AM on Thursday. Rides will only be given to individuals who are going to a place where they are planning to spend the night. Rides will not be given to a business or a party.
One CTA bus will pick up residents in the Sturgis, Burr Oak, White Pigeon and Colon areas. If you live in those communities and need a ride, you can call 269-330-6664.
Another bus will be available for residents in the Constantine, Three Rivers, Mendon and Centreville areas. If you live in those areas, you can call for a ride by dialing 269-330-8267.
The cost to provide this service is $800. Several area businesses have stepped up to help cover a majority of the cost.
Goodman says 18 people took advantage of the free rides last year.
