(TOPEKA) – Authorities are investigating what they are calling a murder-suicide.

LaGrange County Sheriff Chief Deputy Juan Arroyo says on October 25 they received a request for a welfare check at 3035 South State Road 5 in Topeka.

Deputies arrived and found the house secure, and were unable to make entry. A short time later a family member arrived and as deputies entered the house, they found a man and a woman dead.

Deputies and Detectives returned to the residence and started an investigation. The Early evidence suggests this was a murder-suicide and was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.

The deceased individuals are 70 year old Rafael Flores and his wife, 70 year old Deonecia Flores.

The matter is still under investigation.
