(ANGOLA) - Trine University is holding its 11th annual "U Can Crush Hunger" food and fundraising campaign for Community Harvest Food Bank. The competitive drive between area schools aims to provide meals to families in northeast Indiana during the holidays and support food pantries for students with food insecurity. The collection bins are located on Trine's Angola campus in the Thunder Ice Arena, Steel Dynamics Inc. Center for Engineering and Computing, Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center, and Best Hall of Science. The campaign runs through November 7. For every dollar donated, four pounds of food are provided, with Trine's goal being to collect the equivalent of 25,000 pounds of food. The campaign includes several participating schools in addition to Trine University. These schools are Huntington University, Indiana Institute of Technology, Indiana University Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech Community College, Manchester University, Purdue University Fort Wayne, and the University of Saint Francis. The competition is for a traveling trophy, which Trine University won in 2023. The campaign aims to surpass the nearly 125,000 pounds of food raised in 2023.
Last year, the campaign raised nearly 125,000 pounds of food. Community Harvest Food Bank says its goal this year is to raise even more.
