(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Department of Public Safety is investigating a pedestrian vs vehicle accident.

Just before 7 PM Thursday, officers responded do an accident at East Chicago Road and Pioneer Street. A person was walking across the road and struck by a passing vehicle.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Sturgis Paramedics and then taken to Sturgis Hospital. The person was later flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment.

Assisting at the scene were the Michigan State Police.

Officers say it doesn’t appear that alcohol or speed were factors in the incident.
