(BRONSON) – The Bronson Board of Education is presenting a millage proposal to voters on Tuesday’s ballot.

If approved, the millage proposal of 4.98 mills would fund major facilities improvements around the District.

The planning for the millage request started in 2019, but was delayed due to COVID. During the planning and discussions, Bronson Superintendent Kate Wall says she kept hearing that something needed to happen at Ryan Elementary School.

Wall says the proposal would move students from Ryan to Anderson Elementary and do upgrades to Anderson to allow for the additional children. ...... {LISTEN}.

Other renovations at Anderson School would include expanding the cafeteria, HVAC updates along with electrical infrastructure work and new windows.

Wall says this work is something that the community says needs to be done. ...... {LISTEN}.

Wall says if the millage had been approved in May it would have generated $32.33 million. If voters approve it today, it would bring in $29.91 million. That’s due to interest rates and other factors.

The proposal would also include the construction of a new 8 lane metric track at the High School, allowing Bronson to host MHSAA sanctioned events in the future.

Polls will be open until 8 PM Tuesday.
