
Damage Estimates Released From Thursday Fire

(COLDWATER) – Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of a Thursday night fire at a Coldwater business.
Investigators were back at Haylett Trailers on East Chicago Road Friday morning to examine the property, but have not found what started the blaze.
The Coldwater Fire Department was called to Haylett’s at 8:43 PM Thursday on reports of heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the property and the building which was the home to Safeguard RV Service and Repair. Providing mutual aid were the Bronson, Quincy, Union City and Lakeland Fire Departments.
Authorities say the estimated damage to the building is approximately $2,500,000 and the contests at $500,000. That included five RV’s and a tractor that were inside the building.
Also assisting Thursday night were the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police; the Branch County Road Commission; Life Care ambulance and Consumer Energy.
